I like to listen to the same playlist, in the same order when I run. Why? I can quickly judge how I'm doing compared to other days (do I have to walk during the first song or the fifth?), I can tell approximately how far I've gone, and at the end of it all I can roughly calculate how long a run took me without carrying a fancy GPS-type device...or wearing a watch. Magic.
So what keeps my legs pumping?

Depending on how long my run is, I obviously don't make it through the whole list. I do always start with Sometime Around Midnight though, I just find it to be the perfect get-going song. As my distance increases, I'm going to have to increase my playlist - time to start searching for new run-appropriate songs!
